2018 Kia Optima Trim Levels
When you’re looking for a new ride to take around the streets of Louisville, Elizabethtown, and Clarksville, a new sedan is among the best options. These easy and fun-to-drive vehicles can also offer a surprising amount of interior space. Sedans may not rule the automotive market anymore, but there are still plenty for you to choose from. Despite the competition, however, the new 2018 Kia Optima tends to stand out in large part due to its versatility. There are actually several trim options of this car available, so we’ve assembled this convenient 2018 Kia Optima trim levels guide to help you discern which will be the best fit for you.
The standard edition Optima is known as the LX, and it includes some incredible features you normally wouldn’t find on a base level trim, like Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ connectivity. In fact, the entire UVO infotainment system is impressive, boasting a 7-inch screen. You also get a powerful 2.4-liter I4 engine that produces up to 185 horsepower with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Upgrade to the S, and the first thing you might notice are the improved 17-inch alloy wheels. To optimize your comfort, this trim features a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat upholstered in high-quality black cloth. You also get LED front fog lights and LED sport rear combination lamps, so your Optima can light your way in style no matter where you go.
This version of the LX comes with an alternative engine. Instead of the standard I4, it comes with a 1.6-liter turbocharged I4 and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. While the horsepower is brought down to 178, your fuel economy and overall efficiency gets a nice upgrade. The driver’s seat here also comes with two-way power lumbar support, and you have the added bonus of a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shifter.
For those of you who prefer a luxurious driving experience, the EX is where you should start. It features the standard 185 horsepower engine, but comes with leather-trimmed seats and an option for heated front seats. The power adjustable driver’s seat has 12-way adjustment in this trim and comes with an integrated memory system, so it can automatically adjust to your preferred settings.
If you won’t settle for anything less than the best, the SX trim is perfect for you. The engine has been upgraded drastically to a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 that produces an impressive 245 horsepower. As if that wasn’t enough, the front seats are ventilated as well, allowing you to always drive at your preferred temperature. You can enjoy a few technology upgrades in this trim, such as Dynamic Bending Light, which turns your headlights along with your steering wheel for better visibility.
