At The Kia Store, we’ve written up this short guide on the Kia Sorento technology features you’ll be able to enjoy behind the wheel. Connectivity
The Kia Sorento comes standard with the mainstays of modern connective capability, through Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration. You can connect either device in two separate ways, either through a wireless connection or by manually plugging them in. Apple CarPlay® gives you access to your Apple features like Apple Music, Maps, Siri, and more, while Android Auto™ offers hands-free access to your playlists, Google Maps, and much more. To get your Android started, just say “Hey Google” and take it from there.
The wireless connectivity you experience is supported by the integrated standard Bluetooth® technology, that allows for multi-point connectivity. This is how you’ll get the hands-free experience with your Android or other capable smartphones. In addition to this tech, the Kia Sorento also possesses a wireless smartphone charging pad for faster, on-the-go charging. Last, but not least is the creature comfort of this section, the Bose Centerpoint Premium Audio System, which features 12 high-performance speakers and surround sound.
UVO Link
UVO link is Kia’s available smart telematics system that integrates itself with your smartphone and smart speaker through an embedded modem which allows it to handle a variety of convenient tasks. You can easily access this feature by downloading the app through either the App Store® or Google Play™ Store. This is a subscription-based service that has the first year covered by Kia; you take responsibility for it starting in year two.
Some of these convenient tasks taken care of include the Remote Start with Climate Control, allowing you to start the engine and turn on the AC/heat from outside of your Kia vehicle. There’s also the Find my Car with Surround View Monitor feature, which remotely captures 360-degree-view photos surrounding your Kia vehicle; this allows you to see the activity around your ride before approaching it, while also automatically capturing photos if the alarm is triggered.
Another neat element is the UVO voice assist feature that utilizes Natural Language Understanding. This feature lets you speak with a more casual tone to control a wide range of features and functions by giving simple commands like, “turn on the A/C” or “defrost the windows.”
Kia Drive Wise Assist Technology
The Kia Sorento comes with an impressive drive-assist suite of tech that’s designed to give you a helping hand while driving. When you and your Kia vehicle work together, anything’s possible! There are five distinct features included in this suite, and they are:
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection
- Lane Keeping Assist and Lane Departure Warning
- Driver Attention Warning
- Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist
- Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist
Take, for example, the first feature on the list, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection. This feature is going to be a huge benefit when navigating the city; it works independently of the driver in those critical moments to help either prevent or mitigate the effects of an imminent frontal collision with another vehicle or a pedestrian.
