Louisville, Kentucky; Elizabethtown, Kentucky; and Clarksville, Indiana, drivers know a good set of wheels when they see one. If you’re looking for a mode of transportation that’s up to the task of getting you everywhere you need to be in the face of whatever challenges might end up crossing your path, you’re probably interested in a new Kia SUV.
To help you determine which one is right for your specific needs and preferences, The Kia Store has put together this quick look at each Kia SUV. Take a moment to review each model.
We’ll start things off with the Kia Niro. This hybrid contains a 16-valve engine as well as an AC Synchronous Permanent Magnet Motor. See below for the type of output you can expect all of this to deliver:
These numbers make it clear that the Niro has you covered in the performance department.
Another way that the Kia Niro can make quite the name for itself is with its interior roominess. Not only does it boast a passenger volume that measures at 100.9 cubic feet, it supplies its occupants with plenty of personal space inside the rows. Here are the headroom, shoulder room, hip room, and legroom dimensions for the front and back seats:
First Row | Second Row | |
Headroom | 40.1 inches | 39.1 inches |
Shoulder Room | 56 inches | 55.2 inches |
Hip Room | 53.7 inches | 48.3 inches |
Legroom | 41.7 inches | 37.4 inches |
From front to back, the Niro has the space necessary to make everyone on board nice and comfortable, whether you’re going to the movies with your kids or you’re on your way to a concert with friends.
There are two engine possibilities for the Kia Seltos. These are listed for you below:
The 2.0-liter engine is what comes standard. With it under your hood, you can expect to have access to 146 horsepower. The available 1.6-liter engine can produce as much as 175 horsepower. No matter which one of these you choose, you’re not going to have any trouble getting to your destination.
This is especially the case when you consider the fact that the Seltos comes standard with Dynamax™ fully active All-Wheel Drive with Lock Mode. This system employs electronic sensors to keep an eye on road conditions to send the right amount of power to the wheels that need it the most. The Lock Mode aspect of this feature is driver-activated. It allows you to benefit from low-speed traction when conditions are especially poor.
With the Sorento, the Kia SUV lineup continues to put up impressive performance numbers. Again, there are two possibilities. You’ll find these in the list below:
The standard 2.4-liter engine delivers a full-bodied 185 horsepower. The 3.3-liter V6 is the available engine. It can generate a maximum output of 290 horsepower. The Sorento is available with Dynamax™ fully active All-Wheel Drive. Despite what the weather or road conditions might be, you can expect this feature to have your back.
The Kia Sorento also has the ability to turn some heads. For instance, the Matte Black front grille is sure to make a lasting impression. The front grille is also available in Dark Metallic and Gloss Black.
The Soul is another Kia SUV that can hold its own out on the road. The following engines and corresponding output numbers make this clear:
The Kia Soul sees to it that you and your passengers get a safe ride from start to finish. One of the features that help in this endeavor is the Smart Cruise Control. This available feature can adjust your speed according to the flow of traffic to maintain a safe distance between you and the vehicle you’re following.
Here are the standard and available engines for the Kia Sportage:
This time around, the available Dynamax™ All-Wheel Drive comes with a Locking Center Differential to help keep the vehicle stable when you need it the most. If pulling your gear to all your favorite camping spots is a top priority, don’t forget that the towing capacity for the Sportage ranges from 1,653 pounds to 2,000 pounds when properly equipped.
Next up is the Kia Telluride. Along with all the other Kia SUVs, it has your back when it comes to its performance capabilities.
The engine that propels the Telluride is a 3.8-liter V6. Its maximum output of 291 horsepower is more than enough to get you to where you’re going, whether you’re making your way up a steep hill or simply passing another vehicle.
Additionally, the new Kia Telluride is available with Active On-Demand All-Wheel Drive with AWD Lock & Snow Mode. Similar to the Dynamax™ system, the Active On-Demand All-Wheel Drive uses sensors to determine which wheels offer the most traction according to current road conditions. You can count on getting even more traction with AWD Lock & Snow Mode.
With three rows at your disposal, there’s no doubt that you and your passengers will have all the room you need to make yourselves nice and comfortable inside this cabin. Here are the numbers that back that statement up:
First Row | Second Row | Third Row | |
Headroom | 40.9 inches | 40.2 inches | 38.1 inches |
Shoulder Room | 61.6 inches | 61.2 inches | 55.3 inches |
Hip Room | 58.9 inches | 58 inches | 43.7 inches |
Legroom | 41.4 inches | 42.4 inches | 31.4 inches |
As you can see, Kia SUVs come packed with a lot of useful features, impressive capabilities, and accommodating capacities. If you like what you’ve learned so far about the Niro, Seltos, Sorento, Soul, Sportage, and Telluride, it’s time to get a closer look at the ones that appealed to you the most.
